Your school will have a reading scheme they will follow and your child will bring home books to read. Children are encouraged to read in class 1:1, with their teacher and in groups for 'guided reading'.
What is Guided Reading?
Guided reading is a method of reading. Children are grouped together according to their reading ability. The teacher will then focus on a piece of reading and start to read together. The teacher will ask key questions from the reading to understand the depth of reading and how children are decoding, understanding, making predictions. The teacher will asses each child's ability and set their reading targets and their levels.
